PROGRAM PURPOSE
To enable customers to enter high-skill occupations which provide economic stability and self-sufficiency. The On-the-Job Training Program (OJT) is currently funded through five separate contracts, i.e. Governor’s Workforce Investment Division, Region I Workforce Investment Board, Region II Workforce Investment Board, Region IV Workforce Investment Board Mid-Ohio Valley, and Region VI Workforce Investment Board.
PROGRAM OPERATION
Region I: Raleigh, Fayette, Greenbrier, Webster, Pocahontas, Wyoming, Monroe, Mercer, McDowell, Nicholas, and Summers counties.
Region II: Putnam, Cabell, Wayne, Lincoln, Boone, Logan, and Mingo counties.
Region III: Kanawha County.
Region IV: Calhoun, Clay, Jackson, Mason, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Wirt, and Wood counties.
Region VI: Monongalia, Preston, Marion, Taylor, Harrison, Doddridge, Barbour, Tucker, Lewis, Upshur, Randolph, Gilmer, and Braxton counties.
PROGRAM ACTIVITIES
The program offers on-the-job training in specific occupational areas with a contracted employer. The employer utilizes his/her training methods, facilities, and resources in shaping the customer into a skilled employee. The customer is exposed to and trained in all aspects of a specific job and given every opportunity to develop valuable skills.
