MORGANTOWN CENTRAL OFFICE
This property was purchased by Human Resource Development and Employment, Inc. (HRDE) in 1978. The property contains approximately four acres and fronts a major highway leading to Morgantown. It includes a three-story office building and four chalets. HRDE rents the chalets to private tenants, thus generating income to pay the mortgage and maintenance on the property. The office building is used to house approximately 30 staff. Due to over-crowded conditions, an 864 square foot annex was built in 1989. In 1995, an additional 2,799 square foot annex was built.
On July 25, 2001, HRDE purchased a .433 acre parcel with a residential dwelling adjacent to the Mileground property.
BECKLEY PROPERTY
The Beckley property currently houses offices for WIA program staff; however, there is a lot of unused space available. Alternative uses for the building are being sought.
TRAINING FACILITIES AND OTHER DEVELOPMENTS
HRDE owns training facilities in Clarksburg, Parkersburg, and Hinton. HRDE's Clarksburg, Parkersburg, and Hinton Stanley Technical Institutes are accredited through the North Central Association, Commission on Schools and HRDE is approved through the U.S. Department of Education for Title IV Financial Aid eligibility, which allows students to receive financial aid through Federal PELL Grants and Stafford Loans.
On March 23, 2001, HRDE acquired the former McCreery Hotel in Hinton, West Virginia. HRDE has made several renovations to the first floor to accommodate Man-Tech Computer Operations, Power-Up (an after-school computer center for children), HRDE's Computer Operations and Applications Technology class, and Loaves and Fishes (a charitable organization). The ground floor has been renovated and donated for use by the Hinton Area Community Center as a " Teen Center" and “Soup Kitchen.” The Soup Kitchen serves approximately 40 persons per day, with some giving donations for lunch. The programs and activities offered at the McCreery-HRDE Unity Center have greatly contributed to the Hinton community and have revitalized the McCreery Hotel.
